PHOTO GALLERY, HS FOOTBALL: Nowhere to go but up for Spackenkill this fall

POUGHKEEPSIE — It was surprising, and it wasn’t. After back to back seasons in 2011 and 2012 of going to the Section Nine, Class B championship, the Spackenkill High School football was looking at a dropoff thanks to some big-time graduation losses.

This was a little more of a drop than the Spartans would have liked, however.

Spackenkill went 1-8 last season, but the good news is the team has a young, talented sophomore starting quarterback who gained a world of experience last year, as well some some solid players around him.

We watched as head coach Clinton deSouza put the Spartans through their paces on the first day of practice.
