PHOTO GALLERY – HS GIRLS LACROSSE: Nine days off and a rainy Friday? Meh. Millbrook rolls on and stays unbeaten

MILLBROOK – Jillian Cafarchio said she didn’t have to do a thing to ensure her Millbrook High School girls lacrosse team didn’t lose focus between last Wednesday, when the Blazers won their fourth game to start the season, and this Friday, when they would play again after nine days.

“This is a team that takes it upon themselves to work hard in practice,” she said. “They have a very well-defined focus.”

Apparently so.

The Blazers came back from those nine days off to a rainy day and wet turf, but Millbrook was solid once again in a 15-4 victory over Cornwall on Friday.

That’s 5-0 now for the Blazers as Julia Galantich led the way with four goals. Kaitlyn Daly, Liz Halpin, Taylor Redl and Stacey Widera all had two goals apiece. Julia Berti, Kiri Dicintio and Samantha Szalewicz also scored.

“Everything has been working,” Cafarchio said. “Our attacks have been helping out scoring goals, and our defense has limited shots. I know that sounds the same every game, but that’s how we’ve played. We’ve been very consistent.”
