Kolhosser Is Filthy In Shutting Out The Patriots

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Two weeks ago, Roy C. Ketcham High School baseball pitcher was having trouble with the command of his breaking pitches.

“He was struggling and everybody was sitting on the fastball,” RCK coach Pat Mealy said. “And at this level, everybody can hit the fastball.”

As the Indians head into the meat of their schedule this week, the senior has apparently solved the problem.

Kolhosser was absolutely filthy on Tuesday as he threw a complete-game three-hitter with 10 strikeouts in Ketcham’s 6-0 win over John Jay.

The right-hander walked just one as the Indians began a critical stretch of four straight games against the Patriots and Arlington.

“I knew coming into the second half of the season he was only going to get better,” Mealy said. “The command of his off-speed pitches today was as good as he’s ever had. The best thing is he stayed composed and within himself and was very dominant.”

Ketcham, now 9-1, got all the runs it needed in the first inning.

Kolhosser helped himself with a run-scoring double, Ryan Mealy had an RBI single, as did Connor Lynch, as RCK quickly grabbed a 3-0 lead.

Ben Tullo was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in for the Indians.

Ketcham is at John Jay on Thursday and then has a pair of games with Arlington on Saturday and Monday.
