Hartford’s Barrage Of 3’s Too Much For Red Foxes

POUGHKEEPSIE – Hartford University took advantage of Marist College’s perimeter defense on Tuesday night, and the Hawks beat the Red Foxes, 62-51, in a non-league men’s basketball game.

Marist is now 1-1 overall heading into Sunday’s game at Fordham.

Zion Tordoff scored the first points of the game 44 seconds in, but Hartford responded with a 7-0 run.

With 9:13 left in the first half, a three-pointer by Tyler Sagl brought the Red Foxes to within one at 15-14. Hartford then reeled off six straight points on three-pointers by Romain Boxus and Michael Dunne.

Hartford used an 8-0 run late in the first half to expand its lead to double digits. Hunter Marks’ three-pointer in the closing seconds gave the Hawks a 36-24 advantage heading into the locker room.

Hartford’s lead reached a game-high of 19 on two occasions in the second half.

The final margin of 11 was the closest Marist came in the final 19 minutes of the game.

Michael Cubbage and Matt Turner tied for Marist’s team-high with 13 points. Tordoff tied for Marist’s team lead with seven rebounds.

Moses Flowers had a game-high 16 points for Hartford.
