McCaul Scores Four Times In Victory

PINE PLAINS – The Bombers didn’t throw the ball one time Friday night.

Didn’t have to.

Calab McCaul rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns, leading Pine Plains to a 46-14 win over Fallsburg in an eight-man league game.

It was the season opener for both teams.

“For the opener, we played well,” Pine Plains coach Rob Scott said. “My offensive line was the surprise of the night.”

Asked why, Scott said he always felt like he had great skill position players coming back who don’t need a heck of lot of room to maneuver. But Fallsburg, with a 29-man roster, also has a huge defensive front.

“We worked a lot on our zone schemes and these kids were standouts,” Scott said.

Devon Hurst, Jason Michetti and Tristan Riccobono were the three main anchors on the line., controlling the line of scrimmage in opening huge holes. Sebastian Burmeister also had a great day subbing in for McCaul at quarterback after the half, rushing for 105 yards on 13 carries along with two touchdowns. Kyle Stracher ran for 65 yards and sophomore Andrew Speedling contributed a touchdown as well with 75 yards on nine carries.

Burrmeister had 10 tackles at middle linebacker to go with an interception. Zachary Zeko had eight tackles as did Speedling.
