PO’TOWN DROPS THIRD STRAIGHT

Pioneers Fall At Home To Walter Panas

POUGHKEEPSIE – There was definite improvement on Friday with the Poughkeepsie High School football team.

There was just no victory.

The Pioneers fought the good fight but fell to Walter Panas, 28-6, in a league matchup at Sam Kalloch Field at Poughkeepsie.

Po’town is 0-3 under first-year head coach Mark Bianco.

The Panthers took a 7-0 lead but Poughkeepsie answered when Amari Paul scored from 11 yards out to cut the deficit to 7-6 early in the second quarter.

The Pioneers still had the momentum heading into halftime even though Panas connected on a 45-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-6 late in the second quarter. Poughkeepsie’s defense stiffened and the score stayed that way at intermission thanks to a big sack at its own 3 yard line on the last play of the half to prevent the Panthers from scoring again.

But the Pioneers couldn’t get the offense going in the second half.
