New Paltz Star Beats Millbrook Standout By One Shot

HIGHLAND – What a battle!

New Paltz High School’s Nick Puleo out-dueled Millbrook’s Tyler Schaad by a stroke on Monday, winning the Mid-Hudson Athletic League boys golf championship at Apple Greens Golf Course.

Puleo finished with a 3-over-par 74 on a gray, misty day on the links.

Schaad shot a 75 and Onteora’s Ori Grady was right there as well, carding a 76.

The top 20 golfers from MHALs qualified for the Section 9 qualifier in May, when the rest of the section offers boys golf.

They include Zack Murphy of Rondout; Patrick Kyle, Colby Whelan and Hunter Stoliker of Millbrook; Max Pietras, Cole Dixon, Ben Rinaldi and Colin Reichelt of Rhinebeck; Marc Panzella of Highland; James Rossetti of Red Hook; Joe nesbitt of Roosevelt; Robert DeLaurentis and Luke Whalen of Spackenkill; Josh Clinton, Oliver Watson and Kevin Metzger of New Paltz; and Adam Williams of Onteora.
