Raider Boys Go On The Road To Beat Roosevelt

HYDE PARK – Chris Yearwood scored 21 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, helping No. 5 Red Hook to a 56-50 win over No. 4 Franklin D. Roosevelt on Monday in a Section 9, Class A quarterfinal.

Red Hook is now 13-6 overall.

Dylan Bayliss had a season-high 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Raiders, and Jason Davis added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Ron Vespe had 17 points for the Presidents while Dylan Craft added eight.

“It was definitely a sectional type environment in the second half,” Red Hook coach Matt Hayes said.

Roosevelt led by as many as nine in the third quarter until the Raiders got two steals and two buckets to slice the lead to three.

In the last nine-and-a-half minutes of the game, Red Hook held FDR to just six points.

Red Hook is at No. 1 New Paltz on Wednesday for a semifinal game.  The Huguenots beat the Raiders earlier this season.
