RED HOOK HAMMERS FDR TO BEGIN HS FOOTBALL SEASON

Raiders Control The Game Throughout In Rout Of Presidents

HYDE PARK – It was only a few years ago that Red Hook High School football briefly played a softer, independent schedule to help get the program back in shape.

The program appears to be back in shape.

The Raiders opened the 2021 high school football season with a rout, as Red Hook went on the road and hammered Franklin D. Roosevelt, 51-14.

This was a game for the first half as the host Presidents pulled within 19-14 on quarterback Shane Baxter’s second touchdown pass.

But after halftime, the Raiders went to a KISS strategy – Keep It Simple Stupid – and just played man-up, hard-nosed, in-your-face football.

Red Hook manhandled FDR up front and just went to power football, running the ball up the guy to great success and mixing in the pass where appropriate.
