Raiders Use Two Pitchers To Combine On Three-Hitter

RED HOOK – Red Hook High School softball pitchers Lindsay Martin and Alexis Murphy combined to only allow just three hits on Wednesday, and the No. 3 Raiders beat No. 6 Port Jervis, 5-1, in a Section 9, Class A quarterfinal.

Red Hook will now meet the winner of Thursday’s Saugerties-New Paltz game in a semifinal on Friday.

Red Hook took the lead in the bottom of the third inning when Martin singled and scored on an RBI single by Lauren Totman.

Port Jervis tied the score in the top of the fourth inning on an overthrow at second base that allowed Rudae Godson to score.

But the Raiders came right back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by Murphy to take the lead, and added another when Alyssa Virga was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Raiders added insurance when Hanlon Crane led off with a double and scored on an RBI triple from Murphy, who came home on an overthrow from the outfield.
