Raiders’ Defense Dominant In Win Over Wallkill










HYDE PARK – As gloomy as it was on Wednesday night, the Red Hook High School boys lacrosse team provided a ray of sunshine for their program.

The Raiders turned in a superb defensive performance and beat Wallkill, 7-4, to win the Section 9, Class C championship on the neutral field at Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It was Red Hook’s first sectional title since 2013 and seventh in the last 12 years.

The Raiders now move on to face Briarcliff in the regional final on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Faller Field in Middletown for the right to go to the state Final Hour.

Brian Kelly had two goals and two assists to pace the Red Hook offense, which also received single goals from Lucas Sheprow

Cian Ryan, Joe Chilinski, Dallas Hooton and Kevin Murray.

Joe Alessi made nine saves in goal.
