Boys Soccer Nips Hamilton To Earn Final Four Berth

PLEASANTVILLE – For the first time since winning it all in 2014, the Rhinebeck High School boys soccer team is going back to the Final Four.

Noah Lortie had the only goal and the Hawks’ stellar defense did the rest, and Rhinebeck beat Alexander Hamilton, 1-0, in a New York State Class C quarterfinal on Saturday at Pace University.

The Hawks will face Voorheesville next Saturday, November 16, at Faller Field in Middletown at 11 a.m. in a state semifinal.

“As far as getting back to the Final Four, we couldn’t be more excited,” Rhinebeck coach Justin Wiesenthal said. “The guys have been putting in a lot of work and are real happy to be able to spend another week together training. This week we will begin to prepare for what I am sure will be an exciting week.”

Lortie scored the game’s only goal in the first half off an assist from Nakoa Zuger. After that, it was up to the D.

“We were fortunate to get on the board early and throughout the game we saw great opportunities form both teams,” Wiesenthal said. “Rhinebeck did an outstanding job of defending as a team.”
