FDR Boys, Girls Win MHAL Indoor Titles

WEST POINT – A clean sweep.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt High School boys and girls indoor track teams both won Mid-Hudson Athletic League titles on Saturday in the conference indoor track championships.

The boys tallied 132 total points and beat out New Paltz (80) and Wallkill (68.50).

The girls won with 101.5 points, topping Wallkill (86) and Rondout Valley (84.5).

Individual event winners for the Presidents were  ohn Ryan Farrell in the boys 3,200 meters; Sarah Trainor in the girls 3,000, 1,000, and 1,500 meters; Max LaFalce in the boys 55 meter hurdles; Nadia Cathcart in the girls 600; Wyatt Matyas in the boys 1,600, and the boys 4×800 and 4×200 relay teams.

Pine Plains also fared well at the championships as senior Dylan Lawless placed first in the high jump at 6’0″, second in the long jump at 19-0.5, and fourth in the 55 meter hurdles.

For the girls, junior Tessa Kilmer placed first in the high jump at 5-0, a personal best; fifth in the 300 meter dash at :46.64, a personal best; and sixth 6th in the 55 meter hurdles at :10.39, a personal best.

Sophomore Olivia Trevena placed second in the 600 meter run at 1:48.47, a personal best; third in the 1,000 meters at 3:22.57; and anchored the 1600 relay for fourth at 5:00.44 with teammates Sadie Norman, Christina Lawrence and Madison Machetti.
