ROOSEVELT’S DEPTH EARNS GYMNASTICS WIN

Presidents Open Season With Victory Over Wallkill

HYDE PARK – Wallkill High School’s Miah Frisbie won the all-around on Thursday but it was the depth of Roosevelt’s gymnastics team that led to the Presidents earning a 150.1-146 season-opening victory.

Frisbie won the uneven parallel bars, the floor exercises and tied for first on the balance beam with FDR’s Emma Jager.

But it was the balance beam, floor and the vault where the Presidents truly won the meet. FDR’s Angela Anthony, Shannon Kelly and Kaelin Grant went 1-2-3 in the vault; and Jager, Anthony and Courtney Femenella went 2-3-4 on the beam; and Kelly, Anthony and Emily Muraco went 2-3-4 on the floor.

Anthony finished second in the all-around for the Presidents with a total of 32.3, just behind Frisbie’s 32.5.
