Boys Lacrosse Team Downs Red Hook

MONTGOMERY – Randy Rosario scored four goals on Wednesday as the Valley Central High School boys lacrosse team beat Red Hook, 7-5, in a non-league game.

It was the season opener for both teams.

VC goalie Cameron Prutzman made 10 saves in the game, and his team needed every one of them. For the last two minutes of the game the Vikings had a 6-5 lead but were one man down after a two-minute non-releasable penalty. Then VC went two men down in the last 50 seconds of the game but Prutzman made two big saves and was able to successfully clear to score the final goal to make it 7-5.

The defense was led by Carter Laughman with two takeaway checks late in the game.

Keith Widas added two goals for VC and Aidan Laughman had one. Matt Abatangelo had four assists.

For Red Hook, Brian Kelly and Jon Chilinski scored twice each, and Lucas Sheprow added one.
