SANNINO CARRIES CHESTER TO BIG WIN

RB Scores Five Times In Sectional Championship Win Over Spackenkill

MIDDLETOWN – Mike Sannino was already having a game after one half of football, so he finished it off with the game of his life.

The Chester Academy running back scored five touchdowns on Saturday afternoon, leading the Hambletonians to a surprisingly easy 48-6 victory over Spackenkill for the Section 9, Class C championship.

Chester will play in the state quarterfinals next weekend against an undetermined opponent.

Ironically, when the two teams played during the regular season, it was Spackenkill that jumped out to a big early lead at 20-0 before Chester came back for the 40-22 win.

This time, Chester scored the first 34 points of the game and never looked back thanks to Sannino.

Sannino took a swing pass on the third play of the game and raced 78 yards for the score and an early 6-0 lead for Chester. Sannino made it 12-0 on a short TD pass reception, 26-0 on a 1-yard plunge, 40-6 on a 54-yard run and 48-6 on a 6-yard carry.
