SANTOS PASSES, RUNS HALDANE TO FIRST WIN

Blue Devils Defeat Hastings

COLD SPRING – Daniel Santos was at it again.

Quickly emerging as one of the area’s top dual-threat quarterbacks, Santos accounted for more than 300 yards of offense on Saturday, including what proved to be the game-winning score, as Haldane High School beat Hastings, 28-24.

The Blue Devils are 1-1 overall.

“This was a tough, well-fought football game,” Haldane coach Ryan McConville said. “Daniel played a tremendous game.”

Santos was 11-for-14 for 120 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 188 yards and three scores, including a 49-yard run late in the fourth quarter that put the Blue Devils up 28-18.

Santos also had a 57-yard scoring run to open the game, and his touchdown pass went to Doug Donaghy.
