Pawling, Ellenville, Pine Plains, Tri-Valley All Win

ELLENVILLE – Ellenville High School responded to trailing at the break with a scorching second half, and the No. 2 Blue Devils beat No. 7 Fallsburg, 48-24, in a Section 9, 8-Man League quarterfinal game on Saturday night.

Ellenville will be joined in the semifinals by No. 1 Pawling, No. 3 Pine Plains and No. 4 Tri-Valley, all of whom won on Saturday.

The Blue Devils trailed Fallsburg 24-16 at the half and responded with 32 unanswered points in the second half for the victory. Sean Pettway had 15 carries for 154 yards and a touchdown. Casimiro Pomales had 10 carries for 162 yards and three touchdowns, and David McCombs added a 4-yard scoring run.

Ellenville will play No. 3 Pine Plains in a semifinal game at neutral Roosevelt High School next Saturday at 7.

Pine Plains beat No. 6 Sullivan West, 43-18, as Sebastian Burmester threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Calab McCaul caught two balls that both went for touchdowns, including an 89-yarder, and he also returned a kickoff 73 yards for a TD.

The other semifinal will feature top-seeded Pawling and No. 4 Tri-Valley. The undefeated Tigers beat No. 8 Millbrook for the second time in three weeks, 43-0.

Quinn Clowry passed for three touchdowns and rushed for one. Aidan Clowry caught two touchdown passes and Patrick Irwin hauled in one. Joe Furlong rushed for a score.

Tri-Valley held off Spackenkill, 43-28, as Keegan Streimer had a ridiculous game, rushing 41 times for 386 yards.

Pawling will play No. 4 Tri-Valley in a semifinal at Roosevelt on Saturday at 3 p.m.
