VC’s Toth, Saugerties’ Costello Both Re-Set Marks

MIDDLETOWN – A pair of Section 9 records will need to be written over as two players re-set the marks Friday night during games.

Valley Central High School quarterback Chandler Toth became the section’s all-time passing leader when he threw for almost 150 yards in his team’s 24-21 loss to Middletown. That gives him more than 5,300 yards for his career, breaking the record of 5,276 yards set by former VC quarterback Kenny Gray.

Also, Saugerties receiver Sean Costello caught four balls for 142 yards in the Sawyers’ 23-20 overtime loss to Minisink Valley in the Section 9, Class A quarterfinals. That gives Costello 1,258 yards in receptions this year,, breaking the single-season record of 1,211 held by John Babin, a 2009 Warwick graduate.
