SHAH BROTHERS LIFT NFA TENNIS

First Doubles Victory Helps Goldbacks Beat Monroe-Woodbury

NEWBURGH – Newburgh Free Academy boys tennis used solid wins from David Salazar at first singles and brothers Arnav and Aarav Shah at first doubles to beat Monroe-Woodbury, 5-2, on Wednesday.

Salazar was a 6-0, 6-1 winner, while Shah and Shah captured a 6-2, 6-0 decision. Aarav is a seventh-grader and Arnav is a freshman.

“I think we’re starting to trust our serve and each other a bit more out there,” Aarav Shah said. “We’re getting better.”

Jack Clayton and Matt Reinhold won at second and third singles, respectively, for NFA. The second doubles team of Raj Patel and Shabab Islam also won.

Monroe-Woodbury’s winners were Jared Rosen at fourth singles and Rahul Burela and Daniel Luo at third doubles.
