Red Foxes End Two-Month, 11-Game Losing Streak

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Exactly two months of frustration came to an end Wednesday night for the Marist College men’s basketball team.

The Red Foxes snapped an 11-game losing streak, riding a career-high 17 points from Tyler Saint-Furcy to a 70-58 victory over Fairfield in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Webster Bank Arena.

The victory was the 100th for head coach John Dunne in MAAC regular-season play.

It was also the team’s first win since the Nov. 8 season-opening victory at VMI.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Dunne said. “We’re just really happy to get the win. The guys put a full game together.”

Saint-Furcy shot 6-for-8 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range. Tyler Sagl (13 points) and Michael Cubbage (11 points) gave Marist three double-digit scorers. Cubbage grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

Tobias Sjoberg gave the Red Foxes four points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots off the bench.

Marist is 2-11 overall and 1-3 in the MAAC. Fairfield 5-9 on the season and 1-2 in the MAAC.

Marist heads back home to McCann Arena for a contest against Rider on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
