SPACK BASEBALL, SOFTBALL SWEEP

Boys Top Onteora, Girls Knock Off Dover

POUGHKEEPSIE – Xavier Zykoff threw five innings of two-hit ball on Thursday, and the Spackenkill High School baseball team remained unbeaten with an 8-3 victory over Onteora in Mid-Hudson Athletic League action.

The Spartans are now 3-0 overall.

Zykoff struck out eight and also laced a pair doubles, driving in one run and scoring another. Sean Lucas had three hits, including a pair of triples, and drove in a pair. Dan Collins also had two RBI and Nick Ryone had two hits.

Logan Holmquist and Zach Fulforb each had a hit and a ribbie for Onteora.

The Spackenkill softball team also cruised to victory, topping Dover 8-1.

Reese Winkelman went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the Spartans. Lexi Pittman had a double with two runs scored and Megan Pillus had seven strikeouts on the mound to earn the win.

Spackenkill is now 2-2 overall, Dover is 1-1.

Olivia Audia and Ariana Oraka both had two hits for the Dragons.
