STUDENT STABBED TO DEATH AFTER ARLINGTON FOOTBALL GAME

Sheriff’s Office Confirms Parking Lot Fight

A fight in the parking lot at Arlington High School following the Admirals’ 39-12 football victory over Scarsdale on Friday night resulted in the stabbing death of 16-year old Arlington student, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office confirmed early this morning.

Nestor A. Ortiz-Ocampo, age 18 of the City of Poughkeepsie, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with the death.

The DCSO said that at approximately 9 p.m. Friday numerous Deputies responded along with the New York State Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, City of Poughkeepsie Police, Town of East Fishkill Police, and Village of Wappingers Falls Police to assist Deputies who were dealing with a large fight and stabbing that occurred just after the game.

One 16-year-old Arlington student victim was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

That person’s identity will not be released at this time. Earlier reports of multiple stabbing victims were premature and inaccurate.

During the investigation, Ortiz-Ocampo was interviewed, and at the conclusion of the interviews was taken into custody. At this time he has been charged with Manslaughter in the 1st degree (felony), and as of this writing is due to be arraigned later today.

Ortiz-Ocampo is a former student at Arlington High School.
The Sheriff’s Office said that at this time no further specifics about the case will be released in order to protect the integrity of future court proceedings.
