STREAKING PINE PLAINS UPSETS RED HOOK

Bombers Earn Boys Basketball Victory

PINE PLAINS – What, did you expect anything different from a Les Funk-coached team?

Especially playing at home in the comfy Stissing Mountain High School gym?

Funk has the Pine Plains boys basketball team surging at just the right time, as the Bombers upset Red Hook, 54-52, in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League game.

Pine Plains has won seven of its last eight games, with the only loss in that stretch coming to MHAL Division III champion Onteora by just a point, 62-61. The Bombers are now 10-8 overall after starting 3-7.

“The team has really come together and bought in,” Funk said. “They’re playing with toughness and hear the past few weeks.”

In the win over Red Hook, Tyler Funk had 21 points, Adam Funk scored 10 and Logan Lydon barely missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

“It was an outstanding team effort with defensive intensity,” Funk said. “Every player scored for us and contributed to the win.”

Pine Plains has games remaining with Spackenkill on Monday and at undefeated Chester on Wednesday. The Section 9 tournament will start the following week.
