STRONG FINISHES ON DAY 1

Local Teams Fare Well At NYS Scholastic Rowing Championships

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Day 1 of the New York State Scholastic Rowing Championships is in the books, and local teams fared well at the New York State Scholastic Rowing Championships at Fish Creek.

Here are some of the highlights from the event:

Rhinebeck won the Women’s Novice Four (Final 2) with a time of 6 minutes, 53.45 seconds, beating Pelham Community Rowing Association by 17 seconds. Warwick was third and Wappingers was fourth.

Roosevelt was second in the Men’s Varsity Single (Final 1), its time of 5:41.116 falling just shy of Saratoga Rowing Association’s 5:37.100.

Spackenkill Rowing Club was fifth in the same event in Final 2.

In a tight Men’s Freshman Four event, Roosevelt was third by just six seconds. Spackenkill was sixth in the same race.

Arlington was eighth in the Women’s Varsity Single (Final 1).

Warwick had two boats in the Women’s Varsity Pair (Final 1) and finished third and ninth, respectively.

Our Lady of Lourdes was ninth in the Men’s Novice Four (Final 1). In the same event in Final 2, Poughkeepsie was just nine seconds off the pace in finishing second, while Rhinebeck finished eighth.

Wappingers was sixth in the Men’s Novice Eight (Final 2) and ninth in the Men’s Freshman Eight (Final 1).

Spackenkill placed fifth in the Women’s Freshman Four (Final 1).
