STRONG SHOWING FOR JJ TRACK

Three Athletes Shine At Pearl River Holiday Festival

SUFFERN – Three athletes had standout performances for John Jay High School on Tuesday in the annual Pearl River Holiday Festival indoor track meet, held at Rockland

Community College.

Shawn Norton won the 300-yrd dash in a time of 33.9 seconds, and also places second in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet.

Noah Mikstay was first in the long jump, going five inches longer than his teammate, and second in the triple jump at 38 feet, 8 inches.

And Khiara Young won the 300-dash, eating up the track in 38.9 seconds, and was second in the 55-meters in 7.7 seconds.

“It was a good meet as a whole with some strong performances from three of our top athletes,” Jay coach Chris Coscio said. “At a meet with this wide of a range of schools participating, it is hard enough to place top 10, let alone come in both first and second in events, as all three of them did.”
