THAT’S FOUR STRAIGHT FOR THE BOMBERS

Pine Plains Baseball Wins Another Section 9, Class C Title

SAUGERTIES – Break up the Bombers!

Well, wait a minute.

It’s almost like the Pine Plains baseball program was broken up last year.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our team for winning a section championship after losing so many key players to graduation last season,” Bombers coach Brendan LoBrutto said after Pine Plains beat Tri-Valley, 5-3, to win the Section 9, Class C championship.

Indeed, in a season where it was a question mark whether the Bombers had enough experience and key bats to take the title, they nonetheless won their fourth consecutive sectional title.

Calab McCaul went the distance for the win, scattering six hits and striking out six.

“Calab McCaul did an outstanding job against a talented and very well-coached Tri-Valley team,” LoBrutto said. “Both teams battled out there today and should be proud of the show they put on for the fans.”

Tyler Funk and Dalton Burns were the only Bomber players with multiple hits. In fact, it was Burns’ sixth inning solo home run that took the wind out of the Bears’ sails after they had just cut the Pine Plains lead to 4-3 in the top of the inning.

Dylan Parks had two RBI earlier in the game.
