Spackenkill QB Goes For Six TDs In Win Over Sullivan West

POUGHKEEPSIE – While big brother Kyiev Bennermon works to make a name for himself on defense at Boston College, Jayden Bennermon is finding his own groove in his senior season at Spackenkill High School.

Bennermon accounted for six touchdowns on Saturday as the Spartans rolled over Sullivan West, 52-20, in a Section 9, 8-Man League game.

Spackenkill is 2-0 overall; Sully West is 0-2.

Bennermon had more than 400 total yards from scrimmage in the win, rushing for 159 yards and two touchdowns and throwing for 260 yards and four TDs.

And his coach, Clinton DeSouza, gave him the ultimate praise.

“He had a Camron Abalos-type game,” DeSouza said, referring to the dynamic dual-threat QB who graduated Spackenkill two years ago. “Jayden is a great athlete who is also doing a great job at being a leader for us.”

Alex Crichton caught four balls for 158 yards and two of the touchdowns, while Josiah Williams caught the other two touchdown passes.

Williams had 13 tackles on defense, as did Brandon Brown, while Devin Mitchell added 10 stops.

“I thought we played way better in the second half. It was 24-14 in the first half and we had three turnovers. Everybody was playing really, really tight for some reason and I told them to have some fun,” DeSouza said.
