Boys, Girls Both Earn Victories

HYDE PARK – It was a good day for the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School lacrosse programs as each won by almost the identical scores.

The girls were home and recorded a 6-3 league win over Washingtonville to improve to 3-2 overall.

Washingtonville tied the game with 10 minutes remaining when FDR’s offense took control and put the game away. Taylor Small was all over the field and ended the game with two goals. Amelia Booth had a goal and an assist. Mia Ridgway, Meagan Marshall and Rebecka O’Brian each had a goal.

Gianna Caprioli had an assist and the defense was solid in front of goalie Anna Slater, who had an impressive 13 saves.

The boys traveled to Newburgh and came away with a 6-2 victory over the Goldbacks.

Kevin Wise led the Presidents with two goals and two assists. Trevor Sotanski, Gabe Small, Quin Winkler, and Zach Algozzine each had a goal, while Owen Williams and Ian Velez also had assists.

For Newburgh, Terry Anderson and Brian Hernandez both scored.
