Pine Plains Runs Wild In Win Over Dover

PINE PLAINS – The natural tendency is to highlight the skill position players when you run for as many yards in a high school football game as Pine Plains did on Friday night.

We’ll get to that.

For now, credit goes to an offensive line led by Jason Michetti, Tristan Riccobono, Evan McCarthy and Dalton Burns as they controlled the line of scrimmage, allowing the Bombers to rush for a whopping 545 yards en route to a 54-20 win over Dover in a Section 9, 8-Man League game.

Pine Plains is 3-0; Dover is 0-3.

Kyle Stracher carried 10 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns, and Calab McCaul ran for 130 and scoring runs of 46 and 28 yards. He also threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Burns.

Freshman Sid Stracher rushed for 75 yards on 10 carries and scored on a 3-yard run, while sophomore Andrew Speedling added six carries for 81 yards. Luke Imperato had 49 of his 55 yards rushing on a touchdown run.

Defensively the Bombers were led by Zach Zeko, who recorded six tackles and returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown.

Sebastian Burmester had seven tackles and two fumble recoveries, Andrew Speedling had five tackles and a sack, Logan Lydon had four tackles and a sack, and Burns had two sacks.

“This was a good solid win for us this week but we have a big test next week against the electric offense of Spackenkill,” Pine Plains coach Rob Scott said.
