WILD SECOND HALF LIFTS RED HOOK BOYS

Ryan, Chilinski, Day Each Score Twice

RED HOOK – Well, that second half was nothing like the first.

The Red Hook High School boys soccer team was clinging to a 1-0 lead on Highland when intermission rolled around on Monday, and then apparently time-warped to a completely different game.

The Raiders solved the Husky defense with ease following the break, scoring seven times in the second half en route to an 8-0 Mid-Hudson Athletic League victory.

Red Hook is 3-0 overall; Highland dropped to 1-2.

Cian Ryan, Jon Chilinski and Julian Day all had two goals each for the Raiders, while David Rendon and Gio Flores had one apiece.

“We finally played quicker and smaller and were able to get some guys through seams in the Highland defense,” Raiders coach Steve Sutton said. “Cian had a very good night all over the field while Chris Donohue, Derek Fuchs-White, Logan Tondini and David Rendon held Highland to a single shot.”

Ryan, Rendon, Flores, Michy Mialma and Bobby Timan all had assists.

Angel Selenis earned the shutout.
